Description

JR九州で活躍した485系は民営化後に登場した新型特急との格差を解消するために、内外装とも大幅なリニューアルが施されていました。
「RED EXPRESS」は当初、「みどり」と併結を行う5両編成の「かもめ」に対し施行された塗装バリエーションで、
後に「にちりん」や「有明」に充当する車両にも波及しました。
